Using journaling, group discussion, and meditation, this class allows you to notice patterns and offers you the potential to gain clarity and perspective to unfold some of these patterns - clearing the way for new insights into your life. Two documents changed the world -- and influence everything you and more than 300 million others do! Learn the extreme significance of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution and address:

Constitutional history
Meaning, effect, and ramifications of the Declaration today
Interpretation, significance, and application of the U. S. Constitution’s 7 articles and 27 Amendments
Unsuccessful proposed amendments

Each student will present his fellow students with at least one oral dissertation on an assigned issue. (8 classes)

Second Step Writing Workshops

Have you started to take your writing seriously but aren’t sure where to go with it? Join us in Petaluma at the Second Step Writing Workshops for craft, critique, and company. We warm-up with a quick write related to the evening’s topic, then share our thoughts on craft, editing and revision as these apply to our works-in-progress. Volunteers read from their fiction, poems, and creative non-fiction for the group to encourage and gently critique. Beginners and seasoned writers looking for new inspiration are welcome to join this on-going group. Please bring 1-5 pages of original material, or no more than 3 poems, and 8 copies to class.
