Welcome! I wanted to share a little information about myself, what I believe in, and how my background and experiences are put to work for students in Petaluma City Schools.
I am entering my 30th year of education and 2nd as Superintendent in Petaluma City Schools. Previously, I served in the administrative roles of Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Director of Secondary Schools, Director of K-12 Professional Development & 7-12 Interventions, Junior High School Principal, Middle School Principal, and Junior High School Vice Principal. My classroom instruction experiences range from Preschool – 9th grade and I hold teaching credentials in both multiple and single subjects. I am honored to have been recognized by my colleagues as a California League of Middle Schools Region 3 Educator of the Year (2005), and School District Outstanding Educator (1994).
Coming into a superintendency with previous K-12 administrative and classroom experiences has been invaluable. It has provided me with greater opportunities to collaborate with staff on a myriad of issues that I have experienced myself in the district environment.
I have one objective that I work towards each and every day:
All students have systems in place within their schools that ensure we are supporting their full development as critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners.
Outside of school, I am a proud father of three children (Lindsay, Jordan, and Matthew) and am supported by the best wife and educator in the state (Kerry). When not keeping active as a dad, I spend seasonal time as founder and chief executive officer of a non-profit focused on providing enrichment experiences for disadvantaged youth.
As your Superintendent, I want you to know that we make your child’s education our priority. They are our clients and we are grateful you have chosen Petaluma City Schools as your education provider. Working with an amazing group of educators and staff, our goal is to strive to provide rich and meaningful learning opportunities for all our students in Petaluma!
