In 2016-17, guidance specialist Mr. Doyle and teacher Mr. Mortensen trained 4th grade students in the Problem-Solver tool so they can play an active role in resolving conflicts in class, on the playground, and in their lives.
Those students who chose to facilitate problem-solving sessions for their peers were evaluated by Mr. Doyle, Mr.Mortensen, and principal Mrs. Anderson to earn the title of Monarch Moderator. These students, recognizable by their orange vests and walkie talkies, assist their peers in resolving conflicts that arise during the school day. We are impressed by these students' perseverance in reinforcing our McDowell core values of respect, responsibility, and compassion. Encourage your student to become a part of our Monarch Moderators program!
