All students at McKinley receive instruction in Spanish at least twice a week.

Spanish instruction at McKinley happens in a rich learning environment with a main focus on listening and speaking, and some basic reading and writing. Spanish lessons coincide with Language Arts Common Core Standards for TK - 2 grade levels. Among other topics we learn the Spanish alphabet, numbers big and small, days of the week, months, fruits and vegetables, animals, and useful phrases needed for basic communication.  

La instrucción de español en McKinley ocurre en un rico entorno de aprendizaje con un enfoque principal en escuchar y hablar, y algo de lectura y escritura básica. Las lecciones de español coinciden con los Estándares Comunes de Artes del Lenguaje para los niveles de TK - 2. Entre otros temas, aprendemos el alfabeto español, los números grandes y pequeños, los días de la semana, los meses, las frutas y verduras, los animales y las frases útiles necesarias para la comunicación básica en español.
