Longtime VOS student, Lydia Williams graduated last month and celebrated with us at her Bell Ringing Ceremony. She came to us from PJHS, spent all four years with us and ended with a cumulative 3.85 GPA. Three of Lydia's family members and her boyfriend came to her Bell Ringing Ceremony. We will miss Lydia and are hopeful that she will fulfill her dreams of becoming a veterinarian after attending the University of Colorado. Sophomore Ian Peracca was unanimously chosen by all staff members to be our March Bright News! student. Ian was given a candy lei and his photo is now hanging on our Bright News! wall. All staff created a Bright News! letter that was mailed to his family. We are proud of you, Ian! All students who have demonstrated academic excellence in the past month are discussed at staff meetings and one is chosen to be honored. The requirements for the Valley Oaks Honor Roll and Principal's Honor Roll are in the Student Handbook under "Our School" in the menu bar. As of January 2019, the new minimum GPA for Honor Roll is 3.5. It was 3.0. The new minimum GPA for Principal's Honor Roll is 3.9. It was 3.8. Minimum GPA is not the only requirement for Honor Roll/Principal's Honor Roll.
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. With this, my fourth year at Valley Oaks, I look forward to continuing with the work we began last year and watching the students thrive in this amazing school. I am incredibly proud of our outstanding faculty, the challenging and rigorous curriculum we provide and the unique opportunities available to our students. Valley Oaks has received top ratings from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and our students are accepted into colleges and postsecondary programs all over the country.
