• CITIZENSHIP & ESL PROGRAMS

Learn about the application process for U.S. citizenship and prepare for your USCIS interview in our CITIZENSHIP PREPARATION class, taught in "sheltered" English. This class is designed for learners who have intermediate proficiency in English or higher and is held August 28th through December 4th, 2019.
Email Laine Gen or call 707-778-4633 for more information!

The following are resources for Citizenship Preparation:

    1) The 100 Civics Questions about American history and government (there is one link for the questions in English & one link for the questions in Spanish): https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/educators/educational-products

You will want to memorize the questions/answers in English, of course, but some people like to see the Spanish version to make sure they understand the questions in English.

Here is a video of the 100 questionshttp://www.tubemate.video/videos/detail_web/yfodm1vxMRI
OR you can put an app on your phone. Search for US Citizenship Test 2019 in your play store.

    2) Reading & writing: You will need to read one question correctly and write one sentence correctly in English.  Here is the vocabulary for reading:

    And vocabulary for writing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COqQwuiDe78

    3) You will need to fill out the N-400 application form to apply for Citizenship, which costs $725. Once you send in your application, you will wait about one month to get an appointment to have your fingerprints done. Then, about 11-12 months later, you will get an appointment for your interview in San Francisco.  At the interview, the officer will review your application orally with you.  Here is a video that is an example of this interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QLozHTaBNc
