Announcement: Welcome to our new Principal, Kelly O'Neil Kriss!
We are pleased to announce the selection of a new Principal of Petaluma Junior High School: Kelly O’Neil Kriss, who will begin in her role as Principal on July 1, 2019.
Ms. Kriss has served with distinction as the Assistant Principal of Petaluma High School for the past year. She has a high bar for excellence, she is warm and approachable, she is enthusiastic, positive, and leads by example. Despite this being Ms. Kriss’s first year with Petaluma City Schools, she has already developed strong relationships with the staff, students, and families of Petaluma High School. Not only will she do the same at Petaluma Junior High School, but she is also committed to strengthening the bridge between Petaluma Junior High School and Petaluma High School.
Prior to coming to Petaluma City Schools, Ms. Kriss was the Assistant Principal at both Paradise High School and Paradise Intermediate School. During her tenure in the Paradise Unified School District, she worked with a diverse group of stakeholders to facilitate change and improve learning for all students.
Before becoming an administrator, Ms. Kriss was a teacher for fifteen years. During that time, she served as Art Department Chairperson for more than seven years, taught Advanced Placement classes, coached girls’ varsity soccer, was honored as Teacher of the Year, and voted “Most Spirited Staff Member.”
Ms. Kriss was awarded her Bachelor’s Degree in Art and Art History from Western Washington University. She received her Master of Business Administration from Cal Poly, SLO and her Teacher Credentials from CSU, Bakersfield and CSU, Chico. Ms. Kriss earned her Administrative Services Credential from UC Irvine.
