Announcement: Welcome to our new Principal, Justin Mori!
We are pleased to announce the selection of a new Principal of Petaluma High School: Justin Mori, who will assume his duties on July 1, 2019.
Mr. Mori has served with distinction as the Principal of Sonoma Valley High School for the past year. During his tenure at Sonoma Valley High School, he focused on providing collaborative professional learning opportunities for staff to support relationship building amongst staff and the student body as well as engaging instructional practices.
Prior to Sonoma Valley High School, Mr. Mori served as Principal of San Jose Intermediate School in Novato for six years, during which he worked with teachers, staff, parents, and students to support the school as a strong community, as well as a warm learning environment. Here he was tasked with repairing fractured relationships between the community and school as well as teachers and the administration. He listened to different points of view, increased access to the school for his diverse student community, and created open lines of communication.
As an instructional leader, Mr. Mori oversaw the transition to the new state standards, supported growth, and implemented Project Based Learning instructional strategies. Additionally, he sought teacher input, allocated site funds to provide time for collaboration, and ensured that coaching support was available to further staff development and improved practices. While at San Jose Intermediate School, Mr. Mori guided his staff through a visioning process where they developed a new school vision, providing a focus on student growth in their academics as well as being active participants in a global society.
Prior to being the Principal at San Jose Intermediate School, Mr. Mori served as the Assistant Principal at Terra Linda High School in San Rafael City Schools. He started his career at Capistrano Unified School District as a middle school Science teacher.
After graduating from Petaluma High School, Mr. Mori was awarded his Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara, his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Chapman University, and his Administrative Credential from Sonoma State University.
Welcome Mr. Mori!
