APRIL 3, 2017 -- Petaluma, CA
Petaluma City Schools is excited to announce that the Petaluma Community Egg Bowl will be played between the Petaluma and Casa Grande high school football teams on Saturday, September 16, 2017. The game will be played in the afternoon at Casa Grande High School.
This historic crosstown matchup will be a daytime community event that will showcase the excellent athletic programs at both Petaluma and Casa, along with both programs’ commitment to competitive athletics, sportsmanship and community service.
With its emphasis on community service, the Petaluma Community Egg Bowl will be a community event that is bigger than just a game.
The Petaluma Community Egg Bowl will give student-athletes the opportunity to show leadership both on and off the field, and to give back to the community which does so much to support young people and their families in Petaluma.
Working with their coaches, team leaders from both high schools will come together to select a local non-profit organization that will be the beneficiary of community service work performed by players from both teams, along with targeted fund-raising efforts planned for the game.
Prior to the game, activities will be planned to bring the players and coaches from both schools together in the spirit of cross-town unity.
Petaluma’s community non-profit organizations will be invited to participate in a pre-game festival to showcase the importance of community service.
Head coaches Rick Krist, Petaluma High, and Denis Brunk, Casa Grande, are both looking forward to a great football game and the opportunity to bring Petaluma’s student athletes together for a truly memorable experience.
